I baked this cake yesterday. Not me actually, my son did it. He loves to help me in baking. Whenever I make something he will come and sit near me and try to mess up things (in his language-help). This time he said he is going to do the entire baking. So I let him do it. I gave him all the ingredients and told him how to measure. So he measured everything, mixed everything and finally, of course, licked the bowl clean. I just poured it into the pan and put it in the oven.
I have made plain banana cakes a few times before but for the first time I tried a chocolate version. The recipe is from
http://www.thejoyofbaking.com/. You can find the link for this cake
here. Actually I didn't have enough cocoa powder. I had only half of the required amount, so I substituted the rest with Bournvita.
Ok, I do agree it looks like a piece of burnt brick (that's what my husband said looking at this photo), but believe me, it tasted sooo yum. Otherwise I wouldn't have dared to blog it here. It is a very moist cake and I am definitely going to make it again.
The doily that you see here is an unfinished one and it is not going to be completed ever because I don't have that color thread anymore. I bought it when I was new to Delhi. We have these weekly markets where stalls are put up once in a week for a few hours and I found these colored threads in one such markets but I don't see them anymore. Anyway I think there are only two or three more rounds to go and I don't think it looks very obviously incomplete.
